worst friends is ryan cavanagh and john paul jones (no, not that one) from brooklyn. they are also known amongst the beards as tom croose and slow hands. we actually suspect they are pretty good friends … making this sweet sweet music together and all … oh, and they just had a cool record out on oz-label future classic. the music sounds very unlike any short persons playing sports of any kind though slow and low is definitely the tempo. there is the beautiful balearic original, eric duncan gives us a psychedelic ride on the disco carousel and prins thomas channels the song through recently aqquired skills as a choirboy and 4 finger keyboards chords…. oh my….

superb reissue of an amazing lost boogie gem from 1981 hailing from sweden, an unlikely hub of funk excellence in the early 80s. originally released on tiny label newlock, both sides of this 12 inch are fantastic - side as >supercool< is a tight funky workout with laidback vocals and a super-summery feel while side bs >percussion sundance< more than lives up to its cult balearic reputation, with six minutes of blissed-out soaring synths, heavy syncopated percussion and smooth bass combining to create one of the hottest things ever to come out of scandinavia. you must have this!

redux kick off 2011 with an absolutely superb debut release from white elephant - a super limited 10 inch only release of rare balearic bliss! white elephant are benjamin smith (smith & mudd) and jim baron and chris todd (crazy p), so expectations for the collaboration were more than met when they delivered this sublime cut. on the flip, merc supremo mark e expertly reinterprets the stunning a side with one of his best remixes to date, keeping the vibe or the original intact, but taking it into solid, floor-shaking beatdown house territory.

one of the highlights from the recent nightstarter 8 compilation – on my mind gets a remix treatment from the hottest trio of club cowboys right now. roberto rodriguez digs out his 909 out of the closet and works out a mid 90s inspired slammer, not far away from the golden times of strictly rhythm. added sample vox and the shuffled drums drives this up to the max before dropping some serious organ madness into the game. sure fire floor burner. for the vocal shy, we have included the dub as well. mano le tough brings us some of his trademark balearic deep techno which we just love to play! damn fine arrangement coupled with soothing melodies and a churner of a bassline makes this one of his finest remixes – we are happy to welcome mano on moodmusic for his first, but definitely not last guest appearance.
